Boiled Rice - Staple food of coastal region


Boiled Rice is also known as Fat Rice, red rice or Mota rice in common man's language. It is consumed by the people of coastal region of Karnataka, Kerala and some other coastal parts of India. Over the period it has gained popularity among the people of other parts of the country. 

People from mangalore and udupi are familiar with boiled rice and it's health benefits.  Boiled rice is rich in carbohydrates and protein. It is available in all the grocery stores of the coastal region. Others can buy from online grocery store


Unlike white rice, boiled rice requires more water to cook. Once the rice is cooked, the starch is released in the water and it becomes Ganji (udupi cuisine) mixture of rice and water. It can be had with mango chutney, egg omlet, fish fry and pickle.

Alternatively, rice can also be drained through steel sieve Vessel Crew Stainless Steel Soup and Juice Strainer, Silver (16 cm) and can be had with fish or chicken or vegetable curry.
